Storm-Proofing a Home and Flower Farm in the Perth Hills

A semi-rural property running a home, a commercial flower farm, and a nursery on one power supply: 18 kW of solar, 32 kVA three-phase inverters, and 50 kWh of RENOZ LV Stackable batteries, installed with Gala Energy Systems.

The challenge

Before the battery.

A home that is also a working flower farm and nursery: irrigation pumps, refrigeration, and business loads that cannot tolerate downtime, on a semi-rural feeder where storms take the surrounding area out.

The solution

Power for this property.

One integrated solar and battery system, sized as a whole property: 18 kW of solar, 32 kVA of three-phase inverting, and 50 kWh of RENOZ LV Stackable storage carrying the house and the business together.

“While much of the surrounding area was affected by outages caused by the one-in-50-year storm, the system maintained uninterrupted power to the home and the business.”

System configuration.

  • 18 kW of rooftop solar paired with 50 kWh of RENOZ LV Stackable batteries
  • 32 kVA three-phase inverters sized for irrigation pumping and business loads
  • Installed with Perth-based solar company Gala Energy Systems
  • Solar and battery designed as one integrated system for the whole property

The outcome

Built around real life.

Shortly after commissioning, a one-in-50-year storm caused outages across much of the surrounding area. The system maintained uninterrupted supply to the home and business through the event. The site continues to run household and irrigation loads from solar stored in the battery after dark.
